I’ve been contemplating this for a while, but the recent disturbing news about Cambridge Analytica and the 2016 presidential election was the final tipping point for me. It is clear that Facebook cannot be trusted with our personal data and Facebook user information is nothing more than a commodity to be sold. I only had an account for a few years and never really embraced the experience, so not much will be lost.
